The first step to getting your implants is to get a dental exam and evaluation completed. At this point, you should discuss any concerns, discomforts, or specific things you may want. A treatment plan will be discussed with your dentist to meet all your needs appropriately. This step also includes imaging tools to look at your bone structure, density, and volume, since the implants will go into your jawbone.
Before you go into surgery, your dentist will provide you with instructions on how to prepare. These may include brushing your teeth before your appointment, not smoking, or drinking a full day beforehand, transportation arrangements, anesthesia, and finances.
Typically, the procedure is completed in one day unless there are risks or additional steps that need to be taken. During recovery, eating appropriate foods is essential and consists of softer foods, such as oatmeal, yogurt, applesauce, or soups. You can expect to have some swelling.
